They're showing good movies in the buses now. I saw Mel Gibson's Hamlet this morning, on the way to work.

i will never adopt kittens.

Because while i'm sleeping he could try to insert himself into my nose.

that's what Neil Gaiman's kitten, Captain Morgan, is fond of doing

and because this was just vivid enough to make me laugh and scare me at the same time:

Sometimes I worry that one night I won't wake up, and he'll succeed in his bizarre quest, and in the morning there'll be nothing but the tip of a kitten-tail sticking out of one nostril to tell me he was ever here at all.

it's amazing how we can accumulate stuff in a year. push pins, paper clips, pencils, scratch and pad papers, receipts, bills, email and website printouts you never got to read, movie and concert tickets, raffle stubs, mugs, keychains, and wedding and baptism giveaways. stuff you just tuck away in a drawer or cabinet. Yet, these are just the stuff you didn't even buy.

for the clutter I do buy, my list includes candles, bracelets, hair bands, hair clips, beauty products i only used thrice, lipsticks (nope, remembered i rarely buy lipsticks. i just receive them, so it's usually not my preferred shade.), a range of makeup, Happy Meal toys (good thing i only have the Cheshire Cat and Eeyore, and a Mr. Snuffleupagus i bought to complete the imaginary character trio.)

books, CDs and clothes that don't fit excluded.

good thing i've finished off all those soaps i got way back two christmases ago (herbal, scented, odd-shaped, and with real oats!) i think it took me three months to consume it all.

now i'm starting to burn the candles. i'm down to thirteen, excluding those that are too pretty to disfigure.

Next target: pad papers, notebooks and address books. now i'd only have to worry about what i'll write.

i wonder if this trash collecting is a girl thing, or if i just took recycling to heart.

anybody want a poster of Gollum? it's my newest clutter acquisition.

(listening to Eheads, Neocolours and Parokya. Natatawa talaga ako sa Mr. Suave at This Guy's in Love with you, Pare. hoy, hoy, hoy, hoy, hoy, hoy.)

realized that i've been away from LB for awhile because i've become citified. for example, i used the seatbelt by instinct. Nobody uses seatbelts in LB, because it's one big parking lot.

LB/Whitehouse memories
(because i was finishing a bottle of wine all by my lonesome, outside unit C2-Whitehouse. i am old, and an alcoholic.)

#1. J. Hip-Hop threatening to spit at 3rd floor residents. He was at the 2nd floor.
#2. malatemail's birthday party which had 20+ people crammed inside that 15-sq m unit. and playing kiss-and-suck. bwahahaha.
#3. Brods and sisses watching Marimar and the PBA games. because if you walk along the corridor, you'll hear the MG tune playing. and because the kittens are called Shancai and the F3.

pota, freshman ako ten years ago. ngayon '03 na simula ng student numbers ng mga freshmen.

I feel quite better now, after two cups of coffee. a little bit jumpy, but better.

“I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.” -- Frank Sinatra

yeah, but how do you cure a mean hangover?

Ten years ago

orangemoony and stormgunning are both reminiscing about our friendship that began in our freshman year at LB. dang, i feel old. but then again, you guys are older than me.

i watched With Honors on cable last night. that fave movie was first shown nine years ago. yup, 1994. What were you busy with when it was showing?

Crazy Book Weekend

After I finished reading Veronica Decides to Die, the next book i had in line was Marian Keyes's Rachel's Holiday. it wasn't my intention to read two books on crazy people in succession but the second book was on loan and three people are waiting for the book. crazy people make me crazy. hope i don't confuse the characters, though they really are unlike each other, like two people at differents ends of the crazy spectrum.

"There was stiff competition among us for the position of black sheep." From Rachel's Holiday.

boy, i'd love to be part of her family. if only to get pass the qualifying round.

i've got one item off my crazy things to-do list yesterday. it's a list i started in college that includes: 1.) cutting grass using the rotating blade machine and the small tractor used to trim the lawns of UPLB; 2.) pagsabit sa jeep o bus; and 3.) matulog sa kalye, maybe in hobo fashion.

but i won't (and can't) tell what exactly it was that i did, just yet. it's too fresh. maybe in the near future.

i'm going back to school.

well, sort of. I'd very much like to finish taking Comparative Literature but i don't think i'm prepared to tackle reading four novels a week plus theory again. so, for the meantime, i'm making do by taking a short-term course. I'd like to thank The Wily Filipino; his stuff is largely responsible for waking up my urge to be tortured by a teacher again. positively.

i actually feel more sane and calmer after that first class meeting. quite similar to what i felt some five years ago when i started taking CL, until the reading assignments drove me crazy. oh no.

Ding, ang Bato!

Saw Darna last Friday, four tickets compliments of T and F. Good thing i didn't pay anything to see the Ballet Philippines production because it fell short of my expectations.

one. i felt like i was watching a rehearsal. not even a Dress Tech because DT nights are also press nights at the CCP. though the energy levels of the cast went up by the second half.

two. JM Rodriguez irritates the hell out of me. his spiel is not even remotely funny and he acts like he never stepped out of his Rent shoes.

three. Poor Darna, not even a single speaking line. not even, Ding, ang bato! plus, the production should be titled, Valentina. Tex Ordonez was great as the quirky villainess.

The Darna production is a far cry of the Shoes++ BP production last year. the Flippers and the Bakya numbers were fantastic. the cast well deserved the standing ovation they received.

but darna, tsk-tsk, really fell short of my expectations. what with the hype and all. and i thought BP would present Darna in a new light, different from the Darnas of Tagalog movies. but the exhibit in the lobby shows otherwise. what you'll see is a Dress-up-your-favorite starlet in Darna costume by using Photoshop.

kawawang Mars Ravelo.

buti nalang my favorite danseur played Armand. his leaps and turns were really precise and his muscle tone and his posterior (what do you call a good back? you know, the back muscles and bone/spinal structure. if you have great abdominal muscles, you have good abs. but what of the back? someone please help me out here. i can't find the word in my Flip Dictionary - For when you know what you want to say but can't think of the word. the first time it has let me down.) well, anyway, he was great, though he looked better when his hair was much longer. and he looked like Orlando Bloom that night. ah, and, from what i hear, he's straight.

it's a Tuesday yet i still have my Monday Blues. I really hate Mondays. Mondays i usually spend browsing the net or doing nothing (you know, useless stuff you do that are actually time consuming).

so many things to do but because it's a Monday, i'm not in the mood to do anything. oh yeah, it's Tuesday.

it also doesn't help that i have Meteor Garden II playing in my head. i have already seen the last fifteen cds of the 31-cd season, which goes to say that i skipped some parts. and because of this, i just can't get MG II out of my head. now i'm trying to watch the chapters i missed (six cds the whole day yesterday), and i still have a lot of cds to go.

so to take the love triangle of Shan Cai, Dao Ming Sz and Hua Ze Lei out of my head, i watched Finding Nemo last night. Ellen De Generes' voice really gave color to Dory, the blue tang. now i don't feel bad that Finding Nemo has replaced Shrek as the second highest grossing cartoon of all time (next to The Lion King).

"Swimming, swimming, what to we do, swimming, swimming, swimming."

'ika nga, "That movie is fantabulous!" clap-clap.

also, i watched the premiere showing because i hoped that my crush, B, would be there and i'd finally have the guts to say hello. (he wasn't.)

the cartoon preview of The Incredibles and the short film by Pixar, Knick Knacks (done six years before Toy Story ) were hilarious.

after the movie, my cousin (my entrance ticket) somehow convinced me to sleep at their house in Alabang, using her DVD collection as bait. i'm a sucker for movies so even if i knew i'd have to sleep with my contacts on, i still went to their house.

and that's what i did, sleep. but i woke up early just so i can watch a movie before i go to work. though i think i appreciate Alex & Emma more because i am, ah, pretending that i can write, and that i wasn't all that bothered of the pace because it was 6:30am (who wants to see a fast movie at 6am?). although i don't regret choosing it over Orange County, which i've been wanting to see for so long.

i loved this exchange:
Alex: "I, ah..."
Emma" "I, ah, you, too."

But i still can't get Meteor Garden II out of my head, parang newsflash na dumadaan sa stream of consciousness ko.

Mahal ko na talaga si Hua Ze Lei.

postscript lang,

never really imagined how Meteor Garden and F4 have become part of pinoy pop culture, even though MG/F4 posters, playing cards and coffee mugs are being sold in every MMDA-accredited sidewalk, until my sporadic church-going self saw a high schoolish skit of MG (with actors in bad wigs and flab instead of muscle) performed right before the homily. okay, i get the point, father.
