i feel like today's a monday. monday blues, monday blues on a thursday.

sulit na rin ang holiday kahapon. nagkapagpa-massage ako. di na ko ganun ka-stressed. medyo na lang.

paglaki ko, gusto ko ng sariling jacuzzi, or bath tub.

if i were to name the best book-find i have ever had the pleasure of buying, this book tops it all.

The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume I: The Greatest Science Fiction Stories of All Time, Chosen by the Members of the Science Fiction Writers of America

i got it for P35 at SM Megamall, at the Stationery section of the Department Store.

the one i got has a different cover, has yellowed pages and really smells old but the stories and ideas are way beyond being timeless. The SF in this collection really blows my mind; i see a lot of traces from these stories in newer SF stories. this, i think, is the reason why i'm not as affected or as pissed with Matrix Revolutions.

thank you, Robert Silverberg, for putting these stories together. i know it was tough selecting which ones made the cut
and which ones didn't. but i still don't get Born of Man and Woman.

*down on my knees and shouting "i'm not worthy!"*

Mandy Moore really wants to see me. After ditching a sorta date's invite to her concert, because i wasn't feeling well at the time of the invitation, looks like i'll be watching her tonight after all.

sobrang lugi ba ang concert at ang dami kong kilala na libre lang ang ticket?

Note: turns out libre nga yung concert na inulan sa The Fort. pero dahil sa katamaran pinanuod ko nalang ulit ang Under the Tuscan Sun. Kesa naman Mr. Suave, no.

Kaladkarin. here's one word that can describe me.

last night was different, though.

The tres marias were about to go home when i called them up, telling them to wait for me.

"naku, ate, matagal ka pa eh."

"hello, hindi, no. paalis na ko."

"naka-shutdown na pc mo?"

"oo, promise."

My cab meter was still 25 pesos when i arrived at my former office's building. they were waiting for me at the lobby, last stop before going home.

"ate, punta nalang tayong Barcelona."

twenty minutes later, we were in Intramuros, feeling like lost tourists in Baclaran, in shoes and clothes not meant for long walks.

trinkets and ilang supot ng chichirya later, Baywalk naman ang dinayo naming apat, parking a good mile from the bar we were planning to go to. Baywalk has taken a new meaning for me, after walking past 30 lamp posts in 3-inch slip-ons with an already aching back.

(at naghatid pa kaming Cavite pagkatapos.)

this is what happens when you have three other lakadkarins with a car you can use (my ex-boss's, but she said they could use it, after leaving the car with gas just a line above empty.)

i'm itching to travel during the Christmas break. assuming, that is, that my office has one. my wanderlust was really bugging me last night (lust is an altogether different problem, ok.). so i took out the envelope of flyers and brochures i got from a DOT travel expo.

i've been to most of the places mentioned in the flyers so my 'Places To Go To' List has been reduced to five spots. since i've no plans to go back to some of the places anytime soon.

My 'I wish to go to' list:
1. Batanes
2. Siargao
3. Panglao and Balicasag
4. Pagudpud
5. Donsol

but if i can't follow my wanderlust, i can settle for Sagada or Galera. anybody want to go with me? i know the list is actually a beach list for a december trip, but we're Warm Over Winter, sabi nga ni Sec. Gordon.

am not counting on malatemail to join me in Sagada as previously planned early this year because i hear she'll only be staying for two weeks, which means cramming Sagada in her very busy gimmick schedule is near impossible.

i could go to Sagada alone like i've always wanted to do but i don't have the courage needed for that. yet.

i miss being on flexi-time: the times when i went to work whatever time i felt like, though my personal target is noon; the times when i could go out and meet friends at a moment's notice; the times when i could get off work pretty early (to go to the mall and see a movie); the times when i can choose not to show up when i don't feel like it; and the times i can take a vacation in palawan or bohol for a few days without my boss even knowing.

now my schedule is so organized i feel like i'm in grade school. everything pre-set, with little room for spontenaity. oh, i feel so grown-up.

i told my ex-officemate M that he'll be proud of me since i'm the first to arrive in the office, at 10am. and that's arriving on time, an achievement as people who know me would attest and most often detest.

the bright side, though, is that we're not a strict time in/time out company.

and that the office doesn't look like a hamster farm.

i know i'm probably not the only one who associates songs with people, moments and events. but these assigned connections are, of course, due to my experiences and states of mind. besides i hardly know my music. i'm a late bloomer when it comes to music. (it really surprises me how my sisters grew up knowing their music. the only music i heard when i was young were classical music and Bhajans. and the noise from my next-door neighbor's band practice, which would never be music even in my weirdest nightmare.)

okay so Sahara Nights will never be dissociated from my childhood memories in Canlubang or Rico Mambo from the first time i was made to dance in class even if i didn't want to (because i realized, then, that i was not born to become a dancer).

i've been wanting to write about this for i don't know how long but since i got to listen to Dido this afternoon, here i am, blogging.

Dido's Thank You just never fails to remind me of my best friend L. always. always makes me smile. just like he owned that song.

the only possible exception is Lauren Christy's Steep which is owned by Nuki's Uchi!. i think he owned the song even before i knew him. ask him why.

though i love hearing Kapag Tumibok ang Puso. now this song makes me laugh because the image of malatemail is really vivid.

but emode has my theme song all wrong. no matter how many times i retake the test, my anthem is always Groove is in the Heart.

"do you see, do you see?"*

ayaw mo kasing makinig sa 'kin.

sabi sa 'yo, bagay tayo.

pati common friend, plano i-match tayo.

syempre, natatawa nalang ako.

chômeur, chômeur,

why do you have to be a chômeur?

(and be proud of it.)

reminds me of a mistake,

some nine years ago.

*(sorry if my allusion is lost to you, dear reader, i just saw the movie again kasi. at tinatamad pa akong mag-explain ng mahaba-haba.)

i was sitting inside an MRT car, yesterday, across this guy who looked uncannily like a guy i used to date, only ten years younger.

but i was in no mood to smile at anyone because one side of my head was aching like one of the Littles was tugging at my vein. i just looked straight back at him while he gave me a once-over, with his eyes lingering longer at the clear plastic bag i had with me.

five minutes later, i knew why. one of the two books had its back cover showing out of the plastic with the title beginning the book's description. a book i remembered to place this way because of the title, but it wasn’t chick lit.

The book was by Jeanette Winterson and the title was Sexing the Cherry.

(only to remember two hours later that i already read the book and should have borrow something besides Leaf Storm and Other Stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
