dimanche, décembre 28, 2003 thanks to satellite internet at P1.00 per minute, i'm blogging in sagada. i got here last night through a trip that was less than favorable yet memorable none the less. hehe. before i even got out of manila, i had to wait in line for four hours at the Victory Liner terminal in cubao because all the trips to baguio were fully booked until lunch the next day. so i was able to leave manila at 4am, with hope that i would at least catch the 1pm last trip to sagada. arrived at 11am in baguio, and the bus for sagada had just left. that is, the 1pm bus left at 11am because there were too many tourists waiting. i have no other option but to take the baguio-bontoc-sagada route which will take 8 hours, if im lucky enough to catch the last jeepney trip to sagada from bontoc. otherwise i'd have to spend the night in quiet, creepy bontoc to catch the first trip out of there. alone. so i have lunch at the Dangwa canteen, ordering Litson Rice. what i get is a lot of chopsuey and rice with some five slices of litson. the gods must have pitied me since they sent two locals who offered to let me tag along. the guy was bringing a lot of booze home so he was hiring a jeep to wait for him at the sagada-bontoc intersection. that would save me an hour! so we took a cab to D' Rising Sun terminal and waited for the 1pm bus to bontoc. the bus left at 2pm and i noticed i was the only tourist crazy enough to travel via that route (instead of staying the night in baguio), and alone at that. 5:50 pm, we enjoy our only bus stop in the middle of very foggy land. everyone is eating big meals so i had a very early dinner. i finally got to know the names of my saviors. someone once told me that asking the names of sagada locals was considered rude so i didn't ask, for fear of rejection and being given a fictional name, patience does pay. after the bus took off, it was a very bumpy zigzagged dirt road ride from then on. we were still in very foggy land in the middle of nowhere, and i couldn't take drugs for my headache because my knapsack was far from me. my contacts were very dry having worn them since early yesterday, and my toes were purple from the cold even with all the windows closed. yes, i was wearing thong slippers. around 8pm, a lot of people get off and a lot of drunk people get on the bus. a Mindanaowan guy stood in front of my seat in the aisle. in a bus that was smelling strongly of alcohol, his body odor won out. no choice but to take a nap again. when i woke up, i still didn't know if we were any nearer to our destination. no sense in asking, 'near' actually means far in the provinces. we finally got off at the intersection a little before 9pm. the jeep was already waiting for us, ready to take us to sagada. we got there at around 9:30, just a few minutes away from the 10pm sagada curfew for tourists. whew. the warm fireplace at Olahbinan welcomes me to sagada. And this is just Day One. # gtz | 12:20 AM | lundi, décembre 22, 2003 Since orangemoony has out-blogged me on our surreal sunday. Moments 1. when we opened the wedding cake box bought by J (wearing a checkered pink polo and khaki shorts). the icing incription read "The Wedding Cake of --- and ---." 2. when we realized that us three bitches, err, batches have attended several weddings together. everyone's getting married, and we are the three constantly consistent guests. and we're all single. nag-ninang nga kami sa isa eh, sa bride na mas matanda pa sa amin. 3. stormgun said it best when he sent an SMS on what he thought of the wedding: "hahahahahahaha...why?" but, my, this has been two exhausting weeks of socials and work. i just want to survive the day without caffeine, have a good night's rest without advil and wake up in the late in the afternoon. the other night, a few minutes after i got home, i was thinking 'i need to take my contacts off soon because my eyes are really strained.' only to look in the mirror and discover that i'm not wearing contacts. # gtz | 12:44 AM | mercredi, décembre 10, 2003 during lunch: "Nag-aaral kang french? bakit, punta kang Italy?" top shelf, huh. # gtz | 4:48 AM | mardi, décembre 09, 2003 Conspiracy I went to conspire with the Indigo Girls last night at the opening of Conspiracy Garden Cafe. the method for ordering was slightly confusing but if Gary Granada 'says' that it lessens the 'isms' (my shortcut), so be it. anyway i got to watch Cynthia Alexander and Gary G. for free. probably missed Noel Cabangan because i left at midnight. singing, i'm sure minus the commercialism lent to Kanlungan. but i really enjoyed hearing Iisa again. Ang pangarap mo'y pangarap ko Ang pasanin mo'y pasanin ko Ang damdamin mo'y damdamin ko sinta Ang kalayaan mo'y kalayaan ko Ang digmaan mo'y digmaan ko Ang buhay mo at buhay ko'y iisa At kung ang karamihan ng buhay Pakikipagsapalaran Nakataya ang pag-ibig kong tunay Sa lahat ng labanan Cookie Chua and Conrad de Quiros opened a lot of beer bottles. pero nakaka-guilty uminom kasi heading ng alcoholic beverages nila sa menu, Intoxicants, kaya i just had wine. (C will be serving organic and vegetarian dishes soon.) in the spirit of equality, Conspiracy is said to have 60 shareholders, with not a shareholder owning more than 5 shares. joke. pero teka, akala ko 51% kay Gary G? this place is a great alternative to '70s bistro kahit hindi pa talaga ganun katapos ang lugar. a new place for martial law conspirators to meet, lalot may Conspirators booth, kung saan pag nasa luob ka, walang kakausap sa iyo kasi conspiracy na yun. i'm pulling your leg? maybe i am. just go to Conspiracy to find out more of this artist conspiracy. # gtz | 3:01 AM | dimanche, décembre 07, 2003 Adobo i just had adobo for lunch, in honor of Adobo Day. well, sort of. wala kasing mukhang masarap na pagkain sa canteen. at sa adobo, you can't go wrong. sa pritong manok, pwedeng magkamali ka pa, pero sa adobo, hindi papalya ang lasa, kahit medyo iba ang itsura, kahit may patatas, itlog o pinya. # gtz | 8:45 PM | My Christmas Wish List 10. a DSC-U60 Cyber-shot U DigiCam 9. 2. That costly ticket for the Happy 50 TV concert was worth it. but did he have to be there? kahiya. lalo't crew sya at hindi audience. pero at least improving na kami, shake hands na. malapit nang maging bisous-bisous yun! 30, 000 people at sya lang ang nakita kong kakilala. 3. i love the view from my desk. you know, pang 'get up and go' sabi nga ni Josie Grossie Geller. 4. mais, je suis fatigué. ça va mal. 5. hello Advil. by the blister pack. # gtz | 1:21 AM | |
