Tambak ang labada ko...
lundi, janvier 17, 2005

After i came back from Balay Tubay, where the Islanen (Cuyunon for islander) jammed, with an afam sharing a song on Che Guevarra, i turn the lights on in my room in one of Rosanna's Cottages fronting the beach. It flickers. and dies. 1am, lights out for the whole town. until one o'clock in the afternoon.

So with my handy "Lost in Sagada" penlight, i survive the cold night and my even colder shower at five in the morning. burr.

and the a 2-hour motorcycle ride to Sandoval Airport in Taytay, 50 kilometers away.

Amazing Race El Nido, The Gtz Episode

so why am i blogging now after months of not blogging? because I have a blog moment. (And a friendster moment, as am wearing F Beta shirt.)

2pm, about to leave Lagen Island. waves very choppy. need to get to airport in El Nido Town before plane leaves at 3:30.

Took a short speedboat ride to transfer to bigger bangka. Bangka flies to El Nido Town. yup, flies, the kind that you feel your tummy turn as it leaps and lands in the water. Went around Lagen Island (Amazing Race island resort) and saw more limestone cliffs and small islands with fantabulous sand, because waves were less choppy than the side facing the open sea.

instead of town proper, went to another barangay nearer the airport and faster for the boat. saved 30 minutes since we would have to go around the el nido mainland to get to town proper.

No dock. small fishing village. rode piggyback because shore was still a few meters away. went down when water was about knee high. tricycle waiting for my guide and me to take us to airport.

no other road but a very looong dirt road (on a hill).

some 20 minutes later, we arrive at the airport (another dirt strip). photofinish. gave ticket to dispatcher. paid terminal fee.

Everyone looks at me strange, yeah probably cursing me since i delayed their flight. Foreigner jokes that i kept them waiting. am really very sorry.

After 5 minutes, dispatcher tells me that the 19-seater plane is over allowable weight. Fucker. Not because of me. hell, 200 kilos overweight.

no choice but to bump me off the plane. Captain wont take off with that weight, and i am only passenger not on a date. everyone's luggage gets transfered to the next plane. but not me.

ok fine.

I wait and find a spot with cell signal to inform manila. swirl. swirl. swirl.

which is why i am in el nido town, staying the night. set to leave for the early flight to the next town two hours away.

have to make the most off the stay, so i roamed the streets, ate dinner at a nice small art cafe, and am going to watch a small town tugtugan in a new bar.

(hehe. nang-iingit lang. yan kasi, nagdadasal na makaikot sa town.)

Later...
